I had personally seen a headprefect who was dethroned on the very day he was enthroned. I mean he was removed as the headprefect by the school authorities only few hours after his installation. Reason: as soon as his coronation was concluded on the assembly, he dashed straight to the main entrance of the school to arrest latecomers. Fortunately, or unfortunately for him, he caught one of his classmates who as at that moment never knew that her classmate had been selected and conorated as the new headprefect of the school; and so was unwilling to cooperate nor accord him the “respect” due him. Perturbed, and infiltrated by the unwillingness of his classmate to heed his instructions, our “new general” hit the young girl on the head with the stick in his hand; and she fainted immediately. The news our brother’s “exploit” reached the school management immediately. Alas, our brother’s powers were removed from him as soon as the managers of the school managed to resuscitate the girl. The school authorities thought that if the freshly installed headprefect had started to beat students to coma few minutes after his appointment, the likelihood that he would kill one or more students before his tenure expires is very high. So, he had to be relieved of his post!
When you see how some people use, or allow power to use them, it’s not difficult to see why God can’t take them far in His mission on earth. Friend, may we be deliberate in heeding the instruction of our Master in Mark 10: 42-43 which says, “So Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their superiors exercise authority over them. But it shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant…”” The way to the top is down. Reason it, friend!
